A Step-by-Step Guide Through the Rental Application Process

Renting an apartment is an exciting journey, and understanding the rental application process is key to making it as smooth as possible. Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to help you navigate the process of renting at UPTEN.

1. Fill Out a Rental Application

The first step to renting an apartment is to complete the rental application form. If you're interested in a specific unit at UPTEN, reach out to our property management team by filling out the application. If you plan on having roommates or a co-signer, they will also need to fill out a separate form.

Many properties, including UPTEN, offer online applications, making the process quick and convenient. However, you can also apply in person if that’s more comfortable for you. It’s helpful to have all necessary information readily available when filling out your application, so be sure to gather everything you might need beforehand.

Each rental application may vary slightly, but you can expect to provide the following information:

  • Photo ID: Proof of identity.

  • Full Name: Your legal name.

  • Current Address: Where you currently live.

  • Phone Number(s): Contact details.

  • Email: For communication.

  • Employment and Income Information: This helps verify your ability to pay rent.

  • Previous Address: Where you’ve lived in the past.

  • Pets (if applicable): UPTEN is pet-friendly, so make sure to list any pets you plan on bringing.

  • Emergency Contacts: A person to reach in case of emergency.

  • Background Information: Any relevant history that may be required.

  • Landlord References: Previous landlords who can speak to your rental history.

  • Personal or Professional References: Additional references who can vouch for your character.

2. Submit Your Application

Once your application is complete, submit it to our leasing team. If you’re applying online, you’ll typically be able to submit it directly through the portal. If you’re applying in person, you can hand it in to the leasing office.


3. Wait for Approval

After submitting your application, the property management team will review your information. This process usually involves checking your background, verifying employment and income details, and reviewing your references.

We aim to process applications quickly, but approval times may vary. We’ll notify you as soon as we have an update on the status of your application.


4. Sign the Lease Agreement

Once your application is approved, it’s time to sign the lease agreement. The lease outlines the terms and conditions of your rental, including rent amount, lease duration, and other important details. Be sure to read the lease carefully before signing.


5. Prepare for Move-In

After signing the lease, it’s time to prepare for your move! UPTEN offers a variety of amenities to make your living experience as comfortable as possible, from the Fitness Centre to the Indoor Pet Wash. Our team will guide you through the final steps of your move-in process, ensuring everything goes smoothly.
